The New Orleans Polaroids, Erica Schreiner & Dehlia Ackley, 2013
Emily Kendal Frey, a light-source in the form of a poet, tagged me last week in the interview series called The Next Big Thing, where writers discuss forthcoming projects. After reading EKF’s interview, I am tremendously excited for her new work.
Here’s my interview:
What is the working title of the book?
FAMILY AS
Where did the idea for the book come from?
Everything has a middle.
What genre does the book fall under?
Poetry.
What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?
There will be six ostriches.
What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
Everything that happened before February 2nd, 2013 and everything that happens after.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
I am currently writing.
Who or what inspired you to write the book?
A very tiny ocean next to a very tiny forest next to a very tiny town next to a very tiny nothing.
What else about this book might pique a reader’s interest?
The word pique will show up exactly zero times in my book.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
The book will first appear as a self-published chapbook constructed at the IPRC in Portland, Oregon as my final project for their Poetry Certificate Program. People might like it, people might want to give it a proper home.
Onward.
Thank you, EKF
